A Wonderful Week of Workshops!

A Wonderful Week of Workshops!

We have kick-started the Autumn Term with a number of fantastic workshops for girls throughout the school.

Circus Workshop

To launch their English topic, which is set in a circus, and to get the year off to a flying start Year 2 were treated to a thrilling circus show. There was juggling, a man riding a 7ft unicycle and plate spinning to name just a few of the tricks.

The girls then had the chance to learn some circus skills themselves. It was great to see them applying a growth mindset to the activities and with perseverance we had many budding circus performers in our midst.

Year 4 also had the opportunity to learn some more advanced circus skills where the focus was on teamwork.

Year 3 class watching Hobgoblin Theatre show.

Hobgoblin Theatre Company Workshop

Year 3’s topic on the Ancient Romans got off to a flying start when we welcomed the Hobgoblin Theatre Company to Ken Prep.

They entertained the girls with a show about soldiers living on Hadrian’s Wall in AD124 – effortlessly dropping in interesting facts about life in Roman Britain for all the different people living here at the time including Roman soldiers, auxiliaries, slaves, governors and of course, the British tribes. Following the play, the girls all took part in a drama workshop using their newly acquired knowledge about the Romans.

Year 6 Self-Esteem Workshop

Year 6 took part in a Self-Esteem Workshop. The girls looked at how they stand to make themselves feel strong and confident, and how breathing can help them get into a calmer state.

The girls also had the opportunity to design their own ‘confidence capes’ that they can put on their minds for when they are needing some extra help.
