On Friday 8 March, we celebrated International Women's Day.

This year, the International Women’s Day theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’. At Ken Prep we are dedicated to Growing Great Minds and we inspire girls to strive for greatness in everything they do.

International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world on the 8 March to commemorate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

  • Christine Darden, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson and Dorothy Vaughan (four NASA women)
  • Wangaari Mathaai (an environmental, social and political activist who founded the Green Belt Movement)
  • Lek (Elephant rescuer)
  • Adriana Ocampo (planetary geologist)
  • Marianne North (Victorian solo traveller and botanical artist)

Years 3 to 6:

  • Nora Vasconcellos and Sky Brown (skateboarders)
  • Dervla Murphy (daring travellers)
  • George Sand (avant-garde artist, philosopher and novelist)

  • Sarina Wiegman
  • ‘Mrs Sherlock Holmes’, female detectives and spies who were written out of history.

The girls had an optional homework to show who inspired them through writing a poem, doing a presentation, a video or anything else they wanted.
