IAPS Qualifier Champions

IAPS Qualifier Champions

Congratulations to our Year 6 Netball team, who are through to the IAPS U11 Girls Netball Championships final!

On Friday 3 February, the Year 6 Netball team hit the road bright and early to attend the Netball regionals at Felsted School in Essex.

The morning got started with the group stages with Ken Prep playing St Aubyn’s, Felsted Prep, Chigwell Junior, and Stormont School. Our girls played brilliantly winning three out of four of their first games. This placed them confidently into the Cup tournament.

After a lovely hot lunch, we got started playing for a place in the Cup final. Ken Prep played a great game against Bishop’s Stortford Prep winning a huge 11-3. Despite the great win, one of our players picked up a nasty injury resulting in us needing to re-juggle the rotations. This did not stop our girls from taking the win!

The semi-finals were against St Albans High School Prep. Ken Prep had a slightly closer game but still managed to secure a 5-3 win. By this point, we knew we had made it through to the IAPS Nationals and the excitement was off the charts.

The Cup final was against a strong Stormont School who beat us in the group stages. Thankfully, we had some quality umpiring for this re-match along with some excellent play from our girls, resulting in Ken Prep winning and becoming the regional champions thus securing their place in the finals! I must say it was a very tense game to watch.

I was so impressed with the sportsmanship and teamwork our girls all displayed throughout the day. It was a pleasure to support them and watch them all play so well.

A huge well done girls! I cannot wait to hear and hopefully see how you play in the finals! A big thank you to all your parents for coming along to support you all!
