Drama is a practical and social art form that draws on the knowledge, interests and enthusiasm of those involved. The subject is taught by a specialist drama teacher from Reception through to Year 6 and every class has one lesson a week that lasts between 30 to 45 minutes.
Drama is taught in a process-led way whereby the girls learn about drama skills and techniques through schemes of work that follow a narrative. The girls also explore play texts offering them the chance to explore script work and of course, the yearly production for each year group is always met with eagerness and excitement.
Recent productions include ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, ‘Bugsy Malone’, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, and ‘How Christmas Came To Be’.
LAMDA is also offered at Kensington Prep School, which offers girls the opportunity to take exams in communication (performance of poetry and discussion), accredited by LAMDA themselves. We currently offer LAMDA to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6
