Queen Manye Naa Tsotsoo Soyoo I Visit for KS2

We were honoured to welcome Queen Manye Naa Tsotsoo Soyoo I from the Accra region of Ghana to Ken Prep.

Queen Manye shared how she became queen, what her role entails and then shared with us a very important Harvest themed festival celebrated in Ghana called ‘Homowo’. The silence in the room as the girls entered the hall showed the awe the girls had to be around royalty.

The girls had plenty of questions for Queen Manye, and all were answered very honestly. The presentation was fascinating, and the girls learnt about another African country and its culture as part of our Black History Month Celebrations.

Changemakers then had the privilege of interviewing Queen Manye further and finding out more about her achievements as Queen, what her values are and why educating children in Africa is so important to her. It was great to see that many of her values are linked to our ‘Growing Great Minds.. And Big Hearts’ ethos, such as resilience, empathy and bravery.

A special thank you to Queen Manye for visiting Kensington Prep and delivering a wonderful assembly!
