New Head Announcement

We are delighted to announce that the Girls’ Day School Trust Trustees have appointed Mrs Rachel Floyd as the new Head of Kensington Prep School, effective from Monday 1 September 2025.

Mrs Floyd is currently Deputy Head of Francis Holland, Sloane Square, where she has served as part of the school’s Senior Leadership Team since 2021 and where she was also Director of Junior School Music for four years.

She has a passion for excellence in girls’ education and comes with a wealth of pastoral experience, including being Head of Boarding at Great Walstead Prep School. A graduate in English Literature and Music from the University of Durham, with a pending MSc in Teaching and Learning from the University of Oxford, Mrs Floyd is committed to a rigorous and holistic curriculum that creates happy, curious and creative minds.

Mrs Floyd has said: “I am delighted to have been appointed the next Head of Kensington Prep School. I have had the pleasure of teaching girls from Kensington Prep in recent years and have been struck by the curiosity they show in and out of the classroom. I am deeply inspired by Kensington Prep’s pioneering history and innovative approach. My philosophy of education is guided by Aristotle’s belief that “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” It will be a privilege to lead such a special school and to join the GDST family.”

Cheryl Giovannoni, CEO of the GDST, has said: “I am confident that under her leadership, energy and care, Mrs Floyd will ensure the continuing success of Kensington Prep and its pupils within the powerful vision of Growing Great Minds.”
