Year 4 Production

Year 4 Production

The Year 4 production of 'Persephone and the King of Darkness' was extraordinary!

The imaginative take on the Ancient Greek myth was both fresh and powerful, with a particularly compelling twist that showcased Persephone’s agency and strength. Rather than being a passive figure in the story, Persephone was portrayed as a young woman who takes control of her own destiny, asserting her right to choose her path in life.

The creativity of the production shone through in every aspect. The balance between emotionally moving scenes and moments of humour was expertly handled, engaging the audience on multiple levels. There were moments that tugged at the heartstrings, as Persephone’s journey of growth and empowerment unfolded, and other moments that had the entire room laughing with delight, especially the playful interactions with the gods and underworld characters.

Every child brought their unique energy and talent to the stage, allowing the ensemble cast to shine in harmony. From the bright and animated gods to the deep, mysterious underworld figures, each child’s contribution enhanced the performance and created a sense of unity. It was clear that the cast worked together to create something truly magical, supporting one another every step of the way.

Audience participation was another delightful feature of the play. When the cast invited the audience to join in the fun by dancing to ‘Hades Town’, it brought a sense of joy and togetherness. The energy in the room was palpable, and the audience’s involvement made the experience feel even more inclusive and celebratory.

Congratulations to Year 4 – an absolute triumph!
