Children’s Mental Health Week Activities

We celebrated Children's Mental Health Week with our first Kensington Prep Mental Health Morning.

We started the day with a whole school assembly, where our Year 6 girls shared their own interpretation of this year’s theme ‘Know Yourself to Grow Yourself’. Their poems and speeches were very insightful and we were so grateful to the girls for sharing.

For the duration of the morning, all girls from Reception to Year 6 had the chance to explore different ways to support our mental health through teacher-led sessions. We had an array of activities from yoga, journalling, Taekwondo, painting and many more. The girls immersed themselves in all activities and it was wonderful to hear about how much they had taken away from each session.

We finished the morning with an in-class reflection where the girls shared their key takeaways from each session. Please see some examples of what they had to say below:

  • “I felt happy, focused and curious throughout the morning.”
  • “The end of each activity made me excited for the next activity.”
  • “I felt like everyone had something in common during the walk and talk.”
  • “I felt a sense of belonging.”

It was a wonderful morning, where our whole school community came together to celebrate such an important event, continuing to grow our happy and healthy minds.
