Year 6 Team Building Day

Year 6 Team Building Day

At the start of the week, Year 6 engaged with a variety of challenges set up by the team building company, Wise Up.

Undeterred by the wet weather, the students embarked on puzzles in the Explore Floor and challenges in the playground, all the while supporting each other through teamwork and friendly competitiveness!

Understandably, one of the most popular activities Year 6 enjoys in the Autumn Term is team building, which allows the students to explore a range of agility skills and test their ability to solve challenging problems and logic puzzles. The Wise Up team were very impressed with the motivation and determination the students brought to the sessions!

On Monday 23 September, Year 6 had a really exciting day full of team building and FUN! The whole day was run by two instructors, Chris and Ellie, from a company called Wise Up and the challenge throughout the day was called ‘The HUB Challenge’. We did many activities, ranging from challenging stepping stones to confusing human knots.

Here is a little bit about the company:

Wise Up have worked with over 35,000 pupils, have travelled 45,000 miles, and led 431 events in the last year. They work with students of all ages from Reception to Sixth Form and also run teacher inset days. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Year 6 worked brilliantly with each other all day and these were their favourite activities:

  • Ski Walk: Students worked in two teams and raced to their goal with two big skis (six people on each set of skis).
  • Stepping Stones: Students used a maximum of ten stepping stones and had to cross an area of ‘swamp’, every time we lost body contact with the stones the instructor would take the stone away!
  • Matryoshka: Teams had to randomly pick up a Matryoshka piece and join it all up together whilst blindfolded. A Matryoshka is a wooden doll with many dolls inside of it, originating from Russia.
  • Crazy Maze: A giant blue wooden maze and a pink ball, and we needed to steer the maze as a team so the pink ball ended up in a groove in the wood.
