Eco-Warriors Assembly

Eco-Warriors Assembly

On Monday, the Eco-Warriors presented a wonderfully entertaining and informative assembly to promote the upcoming Big Garden Birdwatch.

At Ken Prep we recognise the importance of taking care of the environment. By teaching our girls about the importance of being eco-friendly, we can help create a generation of responsible citizens that will make conscious decisions about their environment.

The Eco-Warriors are assisting us in pushing this agenda forwards and presented a wonderfully entertaining and informative assembly on Monday to promote the upcoming Big Garden Birdwatch, which encourages us to spend an hour counting the birds that come to our garden. It’s easy to take part, all you have to do is find a spot in your garden or a nearby park and just watch the birds. It’s not only a great way to learn about birds but by taking part we can help scientists to learn more about the birds that come to our gardens and how this is changing over time.

The sad fact is that many species of birds are in decline, which is mainly the result of access to habitats. There is much we can do to attract and protect birds in our gardens – you can find lots of ideas on the Woodland Trust website.
