Year 6 Summer Project

Each year we design a stretching and imaginative Summer Project for Year 6.

This year scientist, anthropologist and TV presenter Ella al-Shamahi has challenged Year 6 to support an indigenous Amazonian tribe who face the threat of eviction. The project is a wide-ranging inter-disciplinary challenge and girls will be helped in developing their plans by several visiting experts.  They are also dreaming up different ways as part of the project to raise money for Survival International their chosen charity.

Ella is a leading expert in her field.  She was recently the presenter of a TV series on Channel 4 where she joined a completed police operation combating illegal mining in the jungle. She follows indigenous groups fighting to hold on to the old ways, while others uproot and head for the big city.
