Kensington Prep was the first school to be established by the Girls' Day School Trust (GDST).
The GDST is the largest group of independent schools in the UK and currently owns and runs 29 schools which are located throughout England and Wales with a concentration of 12 schools in London.
Since its foundation in 1872, the GDST has been at the forefront of education for girls and a strong voice for promoting opportunities for young women. The GDST now also educates boys aged three to seven in some of its all-through schools, has one co-educational sixth form college and is developing a selective group of preparatory schools, some of which are co-educational.
The hallmarks of a GDST school are consistently high academic standards, superb pastoral support, an enviable culture and the self-evident success of the students. Ninety eight percent of GDST sixth formers go on to higher education, the majority of those to their university of choice.
The GDST aims to help each girl attain her best academic results within a distinctive and inclusive educational framework. It encourages pupils to cultivate a lively intellectual curiosity and a wide range of interests and life skills.
The security of being part of an historic national charity means that parents have the peace of mind of knowing that the GDST does not focus on short-term profit, but plans to be around for many years to come.
