Each year is divided into two balanced parallel classes of about 20 pupils.
The Pre-Prep Department consists of the Foundation Year (Reception class), Year 1 and Year 2. This department is also referred to as Key Stage 1 (KS1).
The Prep Department consists of Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 and is also referred to as Key Stage 2 (KS2)
Pre-Prep (Key Stage 1)
Each class is taught by a fully qualifed graduate teacher, supported by a teaching assistant. Music and PE activities are taught by specialists. All the girls use the computer room for IT lessons and have a timetabled drama lesson every week.
Reception
Reception children are taught in two large classrooms which have access to the playground. This means we can integrate outside and inside learning. Each class has a teacher and a teaching assistant.
Years 1 and 2
From Year 1 girls are taught French by a specialist. From Year 2 library lessons are taken with the librarian and the form teacher in the school library.
Prep Department (Key Stage 2)
Year 3
From the age of 7 science is taught by a specialist teacher in the lab. Drama lessons are specialist taught from Year 3 onwards. A full time teaching assistant supports the Year 3 teachers.
Year 4
Girls are taught art and design technology in our impressive art and DT rooms.
Years 5 and 6
For the last two years, in preparation for their secondary school exams, we set the girls for maths and science, to enable those who are ready to fly to do so, and so that we can reinforce the work with other pupils.
Most subjects are specialist taught. Their form teacher is there for them every day to make sure pastoral care is still a priority.
